New Zealanders unite in record numbers for Nude Food Day!
In its third year running, National Nude Food Day has recorded a huge number of participants with over 1.2 million New Zealanders and Australians packing nutritious, rubbish free lunches in support of healthy eating for a healthy planet!
In partnership with Nude Food Movers, Nude Food Day encouraged individuals to take a closer look at their food choices and its effect on their bodies and our environment.
Embraced by schools, workplaces and individuals, Nude Food Day set out to make a positive change to the recent statistics that revealed nearly 25% of Australian children are deemed overweight or obese1 and that corporate New Zealanders are one of the biggest groups contributing to landfill with wrapped lunches and purchased foods with excess packaging.
Schools participated in what has been the most successful Nude Food Day yet. Whitney Street School in the Malborough region had the whole school pack healthy rubbish free lunches. Mitcham Primary School in Victoria enjoyed a competition to design their own Nude Food lunchboxes and shared a morning tea of fresh fruit together, a practice they hope to keep up!
Workplaces also celebrated by participating in the first corporate program; the Nudie Run. Smash Enterprises hosted a group lunch featuring only fresh, nude food and ran a table tennis tournament, karate and yoga class in the office. Other workplaces enjoyed cooking demonstrations, picnics or ran exercise classes. Nude Food Day 2012 certainly brought about an outstanding effort from all participants!
Together we can make everyday a Nude Food Day…for our health and the health of our planet.
