Dove Medical Press is proud to have reached 10,000 published papers today, solidifying its position as a strong, open access, peer review publisher of medical and scientific research.
Dove Medical Press was established in 2003 and has grown to over 125 journals, some of which hold impact factors. Dove specializes in the rapid publication of quality peer reviewed journals across a broad spectrum of science, technology, and medicine.
The company was founded with the objective of combining the highest editorial standards with the best of breed new publishing technologies.
According to Dove publisher, Tim Hill, "I have always believed that there is a real need for the traditional editorial standards to be applied to the growing number of Open Access publishers. When we stopped printing and distributing printed journals around the world in late 2008, we believed that we could operate our business successfully and sustainably. We are pleased to see that we made the right decision."
Not only has Dove made a strong transition from print to online, it is also the first medical and scientific publisher to become carbon neutral by measuring, managing, reducing, and mitigating the emissions they can’t reduce by purchasing verified carbon credits. Tim Hill, publisher at Dove, recently announced that their publishing operation has retained the carboNZero certification for a second year.
carboNZero acting CEO, Dr. Ann Smith, praises the commitment of Dove to lead their industry in taking responsibility for the greenhouse gas impact their organization has. “It is reassuring to see a company like Dove Medical Press making an honest obligation to the impact they have. This achievement should be celebrated by everyone at Dove Medical Press and we look forward to seeing how this leadership evolves in their sector.”
According to Hill, the company fully intends to continue to lead in the open access medical and scientific publishing sector, making strong commitments to new publishing technologies that will enable them to bring the latest knowledge to scientists, doctors and educators around the world quickly, efficiently, and with the highest editorial standards.
