Hearing Aids – the new fashion statement!
Louise Carroll, CEO of The National Foundation for the Deaf recently attended the International Federation for Hard of Hearing Conference in Norway and was delighted to see people from other countries wearing beads to brighten up and announce the presence of their hearing aids.
Here we are at the end of Fashion Week and we now challenge the fashion industry of New Zealand to design hearing aid accoutrements with specific Kiwi flavours that we too can wear to show our national pride along with our desire to communicate.
We do not want this to trivialize how difficult it can be, living with a hearing impairment, but we accept our hearing aids as an integral part of who we are. By personalizing our hearing aids with adornment we show the world we are willing and able to communicate.
Ends.
