Extending our support nationwide
Access Homehealth, one of New Zealand’s largest in-home healthcare and support organisations has been selected by ACC as
one of four national and six lead providers. The contract is to deliver in-home and community support services for ACC’s
clients, which assists them to maintain an independent lifestyle.
“The contract builds on the work Access has provided to ACC clients over much of New Zealand, and now extends our
geographic coverage to include Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Gisborne and Otago,” CEO Graeme Titcombe said.
“We are proud to not only have retained the past contract, and to have earned this extension to cover the rest of New
Zealand, in some parts with strategic partners. This is a pleasing endorsement of the care and professionalism provided
by our staff.
“The expanded contract will create employment opportunities for skilled support workers in a number of centres as we
increase our capacity to cater for an expected increase in service users. Jobs are advertised on Access’s website and
where appropriate, Access provides training for staff seeking a gateway to a career in the health sector,” he said.
Existing Access ACC clients will notice no difference in their day-to-day service; however, the reduction in the number
of providers to ACC will mean that some ACC clients will have new nurses and support workers. The transition from their
existing provider to Access will be handled in a caring manner.
The awarding of the contract followed an extensive tender process and takes effect from September 1 this year. From that
date all new ACC referrals will go to one of the six lead providers who will arrange for the referral to be accepted and
the required services delivered.
Access Healthcare is one of New Zealand’s largest healthcare providers, specialising in home-based healthcare and
support. Owned by Rural Women NZ, it is a not-for-profit organisation working with the Ministry of Health, DHBs and ACC
to care for more than 14,000 people nationwide.
