Bucket Wish Adventurer Takes Canteen Members Along For The Ride Of Their Lives
Two lucky CanTeen members will tick off one of their bucket list adventures of a lifetime today.
Nakita Matthews and Travis Young will be the first two CanTeeners joining Aaron Carotta, known more commonly around the world as Adventure Aaron, skydiving over Rotorua as he films the first of a 13-episode series called Bucket Wish, scheduled to begin on Choice TV on Friday 29 September.
The series will see Aaron embark on a list of the most extreme adventures New Zealand has to offer such as black water rafting, glacier climbing and flying a micro-light plane.
Each time he will be joined by two CanTeen members, chosen via the Choice TV Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/YourChoiceTV.
Members nominate themselves for one of the Bucket Wish adventures and write a short piece on why they would like to join Aaron.
The nominations with the most “Likes” from the public will decide one winner, with Aaron choosing the other himself.
Having recovered from his own battle with cancer at the age of 30, Aaron undertook a radical life transformation, vowing to live each day to the fullest and tick off a series of bucket list adventures around the world.
His blog and subsequent TV series called Alive! With Adventure Aaron, documenting his adventures has been broadcast over two series to more than 120 million homes in the United States, India, Russia, Japan and parts of Europe.
He says choosing CanTeeners to join him on his Bucket Wish journey was the perfect match.
"Canteen is so important and they do such a fantastic job. By allowing me to give these Canteen members their adventures has been the greatest experience of all."
CanTeen Marketing Manager Kimberley Waters says it is exciting and humbling that Aaron has chosen to support CanTeen members by giving them a chance to live out their dreams.
“Aaron’s adventurous spirit and positive attitude is an inspiration for our members. He is living proof that having cancer shouldn’t stop you living life to the fullest,” she says.
CanTeen, which receives no direct government funding, provides peer counselling workshops, development and leadership programmes, recreational activities and much more, for young people aged 13 – 24 living with cancer, whether as a patient, sibling or bereaved sibling.
