World Smokefree Day New Zealand
Break the habit, make the change with Elusion
Smokers looking for a healthier alternative are being encouraged to exchange their cigarettes for an Elusion Electronic Cigarette ahead of World Smokefree Day 2012.
Internationally, World Smokefree Day is known as World No Tobacco Day, and is celebrated annually on 31 May. The New Zealand theme for 2012 is 'Quit Now. It's about Whānau.' This year, the team behind Elusion Electronic Cigarettes is encouraging smokers to swap to the safer alternative offered by electronic cigarettes in the lead up to World Smokefree Day.
The electronic cigarettes will support smokers who wish to manage their smoking habit, by mimicking the physical aspect of smoking, which is often what people struggle with the most. Elusion Electronic Cigarettes are available in a range of flavours, enabling smokers to find a taste they prefer, making it easier for them to get control over their smoking habit.
They also generate a vapour when inhaled, simulating the sensation that smokers experience with traditional cigarettes, without exposing people to the harmful toxins and chemicals found in conventional cigarettes.
Elusion Managing Director John Burden said: “With more and more public places now smoke-free environments and people becoming increasingly aware of the risks of passive smoking, smokers are now looking for safer and healthier alternatives.”
“World Smokefree Day is the perfect time for smokers to try giving up, and we’re offering our support by providing people with a realistic alternative.”
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 20% of adults in New Zealand smoke cigarettes on a daily basis.
