Hospice West Auckland Awareness Month
PRESS RELEASE
Hospice West Auckland
Awareness Month
“Thank you
very much for your care of Dad. You were so kind and
supportive. We really appreciate that you were there during
such a difficult time. It was such a personal and intimate
time and you almost became part of the family. Thanks for
your advice and experience.”

Month
“I invite West Aucklanders to
visit us here at Te Atatu Peninsula and get a sense of what
we’re all about,” says Hospice West Auckland CEO Barbara
Williams. “Our nurses visited 6480 people in their homes
last year, we have an incredibly enriching art therapy
department, and the building is always a hive of activity
with all the different people coming through and the groups
being held here. We’re always surrounded by fun and
laughter which reflects what we’re really about – living
every moment.”
“Over 90% of people
tell us they want to die at home surrounded by their loved
ones,” says Williams. “We do our very best to honour
peoples wishes and ensure they have choices. We also support
their carers and families throughout this time. As we walk
beside you, through the laughter and tears, we make the most
of each day – we live every moment. It’s about westies
helping westies”
