NZAF Board Chair Resigns, Effective Immediately
The New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) announced today that Alastair Cameron, Trust Board Chair, will be standing down as both Chair and Trustee, effective immediately. Cameron has been appointed to a new role as Chief of Staff for David Shearer, Leader of the Labour Party. Cameron’s term on the Trust Board was due to be completed in October 2012.
Shaun Robinson, NZAF Executive Director, says “We’re very pleased for Alastair and congratulate him on his new role. Alastair has provided clear and effective leadership for the Board and overseen numerous significant changes at the NZAF. During his time as Board Chair he managed the implementation of a new strategic plan and the recruitment of a new Executive Director as well. The NZAF is a more stable and sustainable organisation and while we are sad to see him go, I don’t anticipate any major disruption to our work at either a governance or operational level.”
Cameron says that while his term on the Board only had another six months to run, he is nonetheless sad to be finishing early. But he does not see this affecting the work of the Board or the organisation. “I’m leaving at a time when the organisation is in good heart and I have absolutely no doubt the Board and Shaun will continue to build on the real gains made in recent times.”
Dr Paul Bohmer will be Acting Chair until a new Chair is elected, which is likely to be at the next Board meeting at the end of May.
