Quitline Launches Mobile Website
National stop-smoking support service Quitline has launched a new mobile version of its website www.quit.org.nz
The new website offers a slimmed down version of the existing site, focussing on key tools and advice to help people quit smoking whilst on the move.
Quitline’s Director of Strategy and Communications Bruce Bassett says: “We've seen a huge rise in mobile traffic over the last year which reflects the fact that people are increasingly wanting to access our services from their smartphones. We’re delighted to be able to respond to this demand by launching a mobile website focussing on our most popular and effective services. We believe that our mobile website will help more people quit smoking as they will have 24 hour support with them wherever they go.”
Quit smoking tools that users can now access via their smartphones include:
• Quit blogs, where people can share their quitting journeys with others who are quitting smoking and get support from other bloggers.
• Quit Stats, where people who have quit smoking can track how many days they have remained smokefree and how much money they have saved as a result.
• An online Quit Coach which helps people work out why they smoke and make a plan to beat their addiction.
• Access to subsidised patches, gum or lozenges.
• Txt2Quit messages which are sent to their mobile phones.
• Quit Tip emails as well as a pack of quitting resources.
“This is a comprehensive package of tools, and our research shows that the more of these services are used, the better the quit success,” continues Bruce Bassett.
The new site is designed to work with a wide variety of smartphones including iPhones, Android smartphones and BlackBerrys.
Mobile devices are automatically directed to the new site when www.quit.org.nz is typed into the smartphone’s browser.
