New hospital shuttle service for Kaikohe patients

March 22, 2012

New hospital shuttle service for Kaikohe patients

Kaikohe patients have a new free shuttle service to take them to Whangarei Hospital.

Northland District Health Board is funding the new weekday service to Pakaraka Junction where the 6-seater shuttle links up with the main Kaitaia to Whangarei Hospital Bus.

“We wanted to make it easier for patients, parents/caregivers and supporters to get to their appointments at Whangarei Hospital. From talking to patients we found out that having a shuttle would avoid a one hour drive to the hospital and be very helpful,” says Northland DHB chief executive, Dr Nick Chamberlain.

The new shuttle is run by Mid North Shuttles and departs from Broadway Health in Kaikohe each morning.

Patients must book ahead for the service and will need to show their appointment letter or card to the driver to access the free ride. Parent/caregivers accompanying young patients and supporters of elderly or patients with disabilities may also ride free.

The shuttle is smoke free.

TO BOOK: Contact the NTA Coordinator at Whangarei Hospital on (09) 430 4101
Extensions: 7405 or 8716

WHEN YOU BOOK: PLEASE HAVE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME AND DATE READY.
