Z Energy Helps Hospice West Auckland: “Westies helping westies”
At Hospice West Auckland the catch-phrase is “westies helping westies”. The Hospice clinical and family Services teams
are constantly out in the homes of West Aucklanders, enriching the lives of patients and families. “Westies helping
westies” also extends to the support the Hospice receives from the community, and Hospice West Auckland were delighted
with a recent visit from John Lambert, the Managing Director of the West Auckland Z Stations, with news that Z will be
supporting Hospice West Auckland as part of their $1.2M Local Neighbourhood project.
Most people will be aware that the Shell band is being replaced with the new Z brand. Z Chief Executive Mike Bennetts
says “our customers have told us they want a contemporary local identity that reflects who we are as New Zealanders and
what we value. Our consumer research has reflected a growing sense of national confidence which we call ‘New Kiwi’ and
upon which the Z brand is built. In selecting a brand that reflects that we are a Kiwi company, we are now making it
obvious to the vast majority of New Zealand motorists that they can now choose to support a kiwi company when they’re
filling up.”
As part of the re-brand, each Z site will contribute $5000 to local organizations and charities in their area, with the
amount allocated between the organisations depending on how many customers vote for them.
John Lambert runs eleven West Auckland Z stations in Ash Street, Bruce McLaren Drive, Glen Eden, Green Bay,
Hillsborough, Kumeu, Lincoln Road, Massey North, Rata St, Riverhead and Te Atatu, and as they are re-branded each will
support Hospice West Auckland.
To participate, all customers have to do is make a purchase at a Z branded station and they will be given a token which
they can allocate to the local community organisation of their choice.
John Lambert from Z will present the first cheque in December – just in time to enable Hospice West Auckland to share
some community spirit with patients and their families this Christmas.
