Please note the following information
Medical Officer of Health Dr Richard Hoskins is urging the following people to please contact their doctor to check their immunity status:
• those who were present in the waiting room of the Middlemore Hospital Coronary Care Unit on Tuesday 23 August between 4.00 and 7.00pm
• and who were born after January 1969
• and who have not been fully immunised (received two measles vaccines)
“There was a child with measles in the waiting room during this time so it’s important that those people who fit the criteria outlined contact their doctor. They could possibly develop the disease over the next week,” says Dr Hoskins.
“Measles is highly infectious so please phone your doctor or GP first before going to the surgery; symptoms include fever, cough, blocked nose, sore red eyes. If you think you or anyone in your family might have measles, contact your doctor or Healthline on 0800 611 116, for advice.” says Dr Hoskins
