Quality improvements good news for Wanganui
The Health Quality & Safety Commission congratulates the winners of Wanganui District Health Board’s health and disability awards.
General Manager Karen Orsborn, who spoke at the awards ceremony, says the number and type of entries showed innovation was alive and well within the DHB.
“Excellence in quality improvement, collaboration, customer service, and service delivery were among the achievements acknowledged in these awards,” she says.
“All of those things matter to people who use the DHB’s services and the Commission is pleased to see the DHB making gains in this area.”
The 23 finalists in six award categories were required to demonstrate how the work they had done had made a difference.
Karen Orsborn says the awards give the DHB an opportunity to celebrate its successes and share the stories of how these were achieved.
She says the Commission is actively working with DHBs on a number of quality improvements, including initiatives to reduce medication errors and improve infection prevention and control.
“It’s about improving the way things are done in health and giving people a safe, high quality experience of care. The Wanganui DHB awards contribute to that aim.”
