Media Release:

Tua To Trade Places For Breast Cancer
Research Trust
Today (29 July 2011) David Tua will be putting himself up for auction on Trade Me; swapping his boxing gloves for oven gloves in support of the Breast Cancer Research Trust.
Before David Tua sets out to redeem himself against Monte Barrett (the only opponent to have knocked him down in his 19 year career) on the 13 August at TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, Manukau, Trade Me members will have the unique opportunity to bid for an entire day of the ‘Tuamanator’s’ help around the home.
The - ‘Day in Your Life with David Tua’ - auction prize will be completely customised in collaboration with the winner, but literally could see Tua spending ‘your day’ picking up the kids from school, unloading the dishwasher or even a spot of ironing!
All proceeds from the 10 day auction which runs from 29 July – 07 August 2011, will go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Trust.
David Tua is an avid supporter of the Breast Cancer Research Trust and holds the cause very close to his heart as his own mother is a breast cancer survivor:
"To have the opportunity to do something for the Breast Cancer Research Trust is very humbling. But knowing that my own mum who I love so much is a survivor of this terrible illness, it gives me great joy that I can honour her and fellow sufferers by doing this small but meaningful deed. Much love and respect”
Tony Moffatt, CEO at the Breast Cancer Research Trust says this of the heavyweight donation of time from Tua:
“The chance to have David Tua, who is currently ranked third in the world of heavyweight boxing, to take on your daily load and help take the weight off by helping out, we think is outstanding’.
We are thankful that he is kindly donating his time and that his own mother is another survivor in the fight against breast cancer. Money raised from this auction will help the Breast Cancer Research Trust continue its funding of research initiatives in detection, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this epidemic.”
The Breast Cancer Research Trust is New
Zealand’s only not-for-profit organization dedicated
solely to finding a cure for breast cancer.
Interested bidders can view the auction by searching “A Day in Your Life with David Tua” on www.trademe.co.nz from 10am on July 29 2011.
Ends.
