AUT hosts Arthritis education series
Anyone interested in arthritis will benefit from hearing experts speak on the subject as part of an Arthritis Lecture Series which kicks off at AUT this Wednesday.
The Arthritis Lecture Series will be held on Wednesday, 8 June at the Akoranga Integrated Health Clinic (AD Block) at AUT University’s North Shore Campus from 7-9pm.
Held in conjunction with Arthritis New Zealand the free lecture is of interest to anyone who has arthritis, caring for a sufferer or a healthcare professional involved in the field.
In addition to a general overview on the best way to manage arthritis, speakers will be talking about the neurophysiology of pain and the available medical treatments. There will also be role play and a panel discussion. Speakers at this week’s lecture include:Daniel O’Brien, clinical educator, AUT University Jacqueline Feather, Physiotherapy, AUT University Dr Michal Kluger, Pain Medicine Consultant and Deputy Director of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, North Shore Hospital.
Future lectures in the series include: Managing Gout – 20 July, Making Living with Arthritis Easier (Assistive Devices) - 31 August, Exercising with Arthritis - 12 October, Managing your Medication and Arthritis - 16 November.
