Kiwis seek out iodide supplement for radiation sickness
New Zealanders concerned about possible radioactive fallout from Japan’s nuclear emergency have been urgently seeking an
iodide health supplement to combat radiation sickness.
A leading supplements manufacturer, Natural Health Laboratories, Auckland said it had received 14 calls in the past
couple of days from people wanting to know where they could buy Clinicians Del-Immune capsules.
“People have been saying they are sending it to family and friends either stuck in Japan or on their way out. Some are
looking for something in case the fallout reaches NZ,” explains Clinicians (who do you want as spokesperson? Debora?)
“We’re telling people to consult a healthcare specialist but that the research shows they need about 50 - 130 mg of
potassium iodide per day if they are in an affected area, and to take 8 Del-Immune caps per day. Del-Immune will keep
the immune system switched or primed for action.”
Del-Immune is an immune system-enhancing product made from a unique strain of beneficial bacteria. It was developed in
Russia in the 1980's and used after the Chernobyl incident to help protect against radiation sickness.
“Our product is designed to combat the effects of the low-level radiation that we are exposed to in our everyday lives
and to maintain a balanced immune system. It is also taken by people who are undergoing radiation treatment for cancer.”
