Hawke’s Bay Hospital
helping Christchurch – update
two
Unless it’s an emergency, Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is asking the public to see their GP first so Emergency Department staff can be available to treat patients from Christchurch if necessary.
Chief operating officer Warrick Frater said Hawke’s Bay Hospital was expecting to receive more patients from Christchurch today and over the coming days and needed to clear beds and keep the Emergency Department free.
“We ask the public to help us help Canterbury by leaving the Emergency Department for emergencies so we can free up as many of our clinicians and as much bed space as possible.”
“This is a very fluid situation but we are expecting to receive more patients from Christchurch and we will be working to clear beds and discharging as many patients, where it’s clinically appropriate, today and over the coming days,” Mr Frater said.
