BUPA Medical Alarms Give Assurance and Support While on HolidayMedical Alarms are now available while on holiday in the Bay of Islands thanks to a trial taking place at the Copthorne Hotel and Resort and Bupa Medical Alarms.
Bupa is working alongside Dove’s Tail Tourism and the Millennium, Copthorne and Kingsgate Hotels, to provide people with a relaxing holiday without having to worry about what to do in case of a medical incident.
Staff at the Copthorne Hotel and Resort Bay of Islands have undergone specialised training with Dove’s Tail Tourism, to better understand specific travel needs of their customers. They can arrange for the installation of a Bupa Medical Alarm in a travellers room before they arrive.
During their stay if a guest requires medical assistance they simply press their Bupa Medical Alarm and they will automatically be connected to the national call centre which then activate medical assistance depending on the level of care required. Assistance can range from simply a visit from the front desk to help a guest get up after a small fall right through to an ambulance emergency. The key to the service is to provide guests with the same level of support that they would ordinarily receive in their home.
“The Bay of Islands is one of New Zealand’s most popular holiday destinations for ‘Kiwis’ as well as international visitors. The Copthorne Hotel and Resort Bay of Islands is ideally located to explore and enjoy this very scenic and cultural area. Situated on the water’s edge within the Waitangi National Trust Reserve, the hotel provides the holidaymaker with a tranquil safe haven from the tourist hustle and bustle, whilst providing magnificent water views across the Bay’, said Simon Boyle, General Manager Copthorne Hotel Bay of Islands
“Dove’s Tail Tourism recognises that as different as we all are, so too are our holiday needs. Being able to cater for individual needs can make the difference between having a good holiday and having a ‘great’ holiday”, said Jonny Wilkinson CEO of Tiaho & Dove’s Tail Tourism.
Lee Czerniak Northern Regional Manager, Bupa Medical Alarms, said, “We want to help people stay safe, secure and independent in every aspect of their lives. Making the decision to get a medical alarm can be a big step for people, though a potentially life saving one. This trial will see these customers being able to relax at home as well as on holiday”.
