UNESCO’s Healthy Sexuality On-Line
Bangkok, 21 December 2010 – UNESCO Bangkok launched a comprehensive website on Healthy Sexuality www.museumofsexuality.com to encourage young people to make healthy smart choices.
“The goal of the website is to deliver critical information in a non-judgmental way so that young people can be equipped
to handle life’s most serious decisions,” said Mr. Philip Bergstrom, advisor at UNESCO Bangkok’s HIV Coordination,
Adolescent Reproductive and School Health Unit.
This English website replicates the Healthy Sexuality: The Story of Love exhibition now displayed at the National Science Museum in Thailand, while offering even much deeper information on all
healthy sexuality related topics introduced at the museum.
Like the exhibition, the website is divided into six parts: an introduction; love and romance; relationships and
communication; sex, birth and contraception; sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV; and a concluding
section on making a personal choice for healthy sexuality.
The website will continually be updated with more information, more videos, and current news items. It already is
connected to social networking media like Facebook and Twitter.
The Healthy Sexuality exhibition in Thailand is the first of its kind in Asia using interactive multimedia displays.
Much of the content was created and/or vetted by Thai youth in order to ensure that the delivery was appropriately
targeted. It is estimated that during its one year stay at the National Science Museum (July 2010-July 2011) it will
attract more than 750,000 visitors. Traveling versions of the exhibition are being created to bring this information to
Thai young people throughout the country.
