Choice in ACC Work Account will allow innovation
Choice in ACC Work Account will allow innovation, better customer service
The direction towards more choice and contestability in ACC has been welcomed by BusinessNZ.
Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly said the ACC Board’s move to a more commercial direction was positive.
“Over the short to medium term we would like to see more transparency in levy setting including the removal of inefficient cross-subsidies.
“The introduction of experience rating in the Work Account is highly positive. Firms that have a good safety record deserve to have levies set at a rate that recognises this.
“Extending the Accredited Employers’ Programme, allowing more companies to self-insure, is also sensible.
“For the future, the decision in principle to introduce choice in the Work Account is welcome. This has been strongly endorsed in the stocktake report.
“Competition will allow for more innovative products and services in this market with companies being able to negotiate arrangements that better meet their particular needs.
“Now the decision has been made for more choice in the Work Account, we recommend that the Government move purposefully to make this a reality, with tangible steps made early in 2011.
“BusinessNZ looks forward to working with Government on the detail of this new approach.”
