Warning From DHB of Potential Phone Scam
Waikato District Health Board is aware of a potential phone scam relating to Thames Hospital.
The scam allegedly involves two women phoning residents, claiming to be from Thames Hospital and asking for donations to the children of Thames.
Waikato and Thames hospitals group manager Mark Spittle says this is not a Waikato DHB or Thames Hospital fundraising initiative, and any such calls should be treated very carefully.
“Thames Hospital is not seeking any support for children or the hospital.
“We would never telephone the public asking for donations,” he said.
A Thames man was phoned earlier this week by two women and described them both as very polite and well spoken.
The women knew the man’s name and became agitated when asked questions about the so-called fundraising scheme.
