Army Takes Scalpel to Medical Fees

The NZ Army launched a new incentive scheme this month to attract dental and medical graduates to its ranks.

The new scheme will pay a percentage of medical fees on an annual basis for time served in the NZ Army with a maximum of $50,000 paid overall.

"Through the Army, Dental Officers have the opportunity for post graduate training and overseas deployments which include additional professional development opportunities." said Colonel Andrew Gray, Director Defence Dental Services.

"The NZ Army offers new doctors a supportive work environment and funded postgraduate training, both in the pathway to fellowships, and postgraduate diplomas," said Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Dunn, Director of Medical (Army).

Medical personnel in the NZ Army have the opportunity to use and improve their skills in operational environments. These can range from disaster relief in the South Pacific to Defence Force missions around the world.

The NZ Army has medical personnel working in Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and abroad.

Applications are now open for dentists and doctors to apply for the new incentive scheme through local Army recruiting centres.
