A Real Fight For A Cure

A Real Fight For A Cure

An enigmatic group of panel beaters will challenge a competitive group of insurers in the ring at what is being billed as a true fight for a cure.

26 passionate amateur boxers will be entertaining a black tie crowd of 1000 ticket holders on Saturday, 22 May at Waitakere Trusts Stadium.

Training started nine weeks ago for the all boxers. The Collision Repair Association Panel Beaters are being trained by Professional Boxer - Monty Betham, and to take up the challenge of their opponents; Insurance Assessors from the Claim Services Team from IAG New Zealand, are being trained by the New Zealand No. 1 and World No.8 Woman Boxer - Daniella Smith. The MC's for the event are Miles Davies, Radio Sport personality and Michelle Pickles, TV3 News weekend sports presenter and reporter.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Breast Cancer Research Trust, which has a goal to find a cure for Breast Cancer by 2018.

The boxers all have a variety of personal reasons and motivations to put their bodies on the line as a fight for a cure. Tony Moffat, CEO for Breast Cancer Research Trust comments, “We have been overwhelmed by the passion and dedication of those who are making this event happen. Our Patron Trelise Cooper has even designed the ring girls’ outfits! This is set to be a great event and we are so grateful to be beneficiaries of their hard work and bravery.”
