Keeping more Kiwi hearts beating
Keeping more Kiwi hearts beating
Canterbury builders and their families are stepping
out this Sunday (21 March) to do their bit to help win the
race against heart disease.
The 20-strong team from Jennian Homes has been in training since the New Year to take on this year’s Star City 2 Surf challenge.
The annual event, now in its 36th year, offers everyone an opportunity to join in the fun, with 6km and 12km courses.
Ranging in age from 14 to 53, the Jennian team’s efforts will help the Heart Foundation fund vital research, advance rehabilitation and provide heart health information for all ages.
“We feel very privileged to be running for such a great cause, especially when the money raised will be put to such good use,” says runner and Jennian Homes franchise owner Bruce Maetzig.
“At Jennian we say, ‘home is where the heart is’, and we have been working with other franchises throughout the country to bring the heart health message to everyday New Zealanders.”
Jennian Homes is the principal sponsor of the Heart Foundation’s Go Red for Women campaign and builds the dream homes that are the major prize in the six Heart Foundation lotteries held each year.
“Heart Racer is a fantastic programme that we are really proud to be supporting as part of our drive towards community wellbeing,” Mr Maetzig said.
“We know our support of the campaign will assist the Heart Foundation in raising awareness of the threat of heart disease for New Zealanders and, as a result, will save lives.”
