9 December 2009
People still have time to have their say about whether they support or oppose having one District Health Board in Southland and Otago rather than the current two separate DHBs – submissions close on Friday.
The Southland and Otago DHBs began consulting their communities and staff about this issue on November 2 and submissions will be accepted until 5pm on Friday December 11, Southland DHB Board Chairman Paul Menzies and Otago DHB Board Chairman Errol Millar say.
The One DHB consultation document is available electronically on the following link http://feedback.osdhbs.govt.nz, or on the Southland DHB website www.sdhb.govt.nz, or the Otago DHB website www.otagodhb.govt.nz People can complete an electronic questionnaire through the link http://feedback.osdhbs.govt.nz or under the heading ‘One DHB Consultation’ on the front page of each DHB's website.
A hard-copy of the document can be obtained from Executive Assistant to the Regional CEO Viv Allen-Kelly: 03 470 9154 or Viv.Allen-Kelly@osdhbs@govt.nz Submissions can be made in hard copy then posted to:

All questionnaires and submissions will be collated and summarised into a report for the Otago and Southland DHB Boards, to help their decision-making. A copy of the report will be put on the Southland DHB and Otago DHB websites.
The two boards will consider the feedback at their respective meetings in February. The two chairmen have also attended public consultation meetings around Otago and Southland, as well as being the guest speakers at some organisations’ meetings.
So far, more than 130 submissions have been received from individuals and organisations throughout Otago and Southland.
