Springhill Addiction Centre Move Gets Approval
Springhill Addiction Centre Move Gets Approval from Hearings Committee
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board has had its application to move the Springhill Addiction Centre from Napier to Hastings approved by the Hastings District Council - subject to conditions.
HBDHB applied to change the use of a former resthome, across the road from Cornwall Park, into a residential alcohol and drug addiction treatment centre as the existing Springhill facility in Morris Street, Napier was no longer fit for this use.
All but one of the
103 submissions were in opposition to the application,
mainly from nearby residents concerned about impacts on
their neighbourhood.
Conditions of the consent to operate
the Centre include:
• Restricting the number of patients on the site and minimum staffing levels
• Requirements for site landscaping and fencing, and
• The establishment of a community liaison group which will include a Hastings Ward Councillor
