The following is a summary of the Canterbury cases of Influenza A (H1N1) confirmed since Tuesday 16 June: A total of 58 cases have now been confirmed in Canterbury.


1. 11yr old Male, Pacific ethnicity
2. 22yr old Male, ethnicity unknown
3. 9yr old Female, Pacfic ethnicity
4. 22 yr old Male, European ethnicity
5. 8 yr old Male, Pacific ethnicity
6. 8 yr old Female, Maori/Pacific ethnicity
7. 7 yr old Male, ethnicity unknown
8. 14 yr old Female, ethnicity unknown
9. 16 yr old Female, ethnicity unknown
10. 11 yr old Female, Asian ethnicity
11. 23 yr old Female, European ethnicity


Eight of these people are known contacts of other local confirmed cases.
One person – 22 year old male – is an English tourist
Two people – 15 year old male and 14 year old female - are cases from the community with no identified linkage to a confirmed case and no overseas travel history.

Eight more cases have also just been confirmed. Details are not yet available
