HBDHB Emergency Operations Centre established

HBDHB Emergency Operations Centre and Incident Management Team established

At midday today Hawke’s Bay District Health Board established an Emergency Operations Centre and assembled its Incident Management Team in response to the swine flu alert.

Acting Chief Operations Officer, Ken Foote, who is also Incident Controller, said setting up the Emergency Operation Centre and Incident Management Team was done to assist the Medical Officer of Health with the local control, coordination and response to the swine flu.

It was also done in order to prepare for a higher level response if it was required, he said.

All health responses to the flu alert will be coordinated through the Emergency Operations Centre.

Members of the public can contact the centre on 06 873 2166 or 06 873 2167 or email emergency.response@hawkesbaydhb.govt.nz
