Resignation Of HBDHB Chief Executive

Resignation Of HBDHB Chief Executive
Today I am announcing my resignation as Chief Executive of Hawke’s Bay District Health Board effective from 20 February, 2009.
This week marks six years as Chief Executive Officer of Hawke’s Bay District Health Board and I feel it is the right time for the organisation to have a new leader.
When Sir John was appointed Commissioner last year he asked me to stay on for at least a year to see through the DHB’s Future Directions Plan and to bring the DHB’s financial result back on target. Both objectives have been achieved.
It was my intention to stand down at the end of this year, however, in discussion with Sir John and given the sensitivity surrounding last year’s removal and subsequent reinstatement of the Board, I believe it is in the best interests of the organisation to allow a new CEO to bring a fresh start to the DHB.
It has been a privilege to lead HBDHB and I wish the staff, the new Governance Board and all those working for the health of Hawke’s Bay well.
