Nurses' Voices Need to be Heard

Media Release:

Nurses' Voices Need to be Heard in Health Funding Review

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is confident that the Ministerial Group, announced today to review expenditure in Vote Health, will find that those working in health deliver outstandingly high value care.

"Those working in the frontline of our country's health system provide excellent care despite often having to work under difficult circumstances where the levels of staffing can be well below what could be considered safe. We welcome any examination of the health system which is focused on improving quality and effectiveness and achieving the best possible investment in this vital sector," Marion Guy, NZNO President said.

"We expect that this review will ensure that the voice of health professionals, including nurses, is heard through a comprehensive consultation process. We are looking forward to engaging with the Ministerial Group. As those working in health we are experts on where changes can and cannot be made," said Brenda Close Kaiwhakahaere of Te Runanga O Aotearoa NZNO
