Cheque Surprise From Fresh Future
Waikato Hospital has its wish list ready and now staff and children are just waiting for the good news about how much money Progressive Enterprises raised in its 2008 Fresh Future appeal.
Waikato Hospital is one of 10 dedicated children's hospitals or wards throughout New Zealand benefiting from the appeal.
This year's donation, which Progressive will hand over on Tuesday (November 11), will go towards a number of items including a $106,000 laproscopic tower and monitor used for keyhole surgery which provides a precise still or video image.
The list also includes lazy boy chairs, couches, breastfeeding chairs, oximeters, warming cupboards, paint for the paediatric wards, toys, art materials and DVDs for children.
Last year Fresh Future raised more than $1 million. Waikato's share of that was just over $210,000, which went towards the Child Development Centre, children's wards, newborn intensive care unit and the Mothercraft Unit.
Health Waikato chief operating officer Jan Adams said the hospital really appreciated the funds raised from the event last year.
"Staff are really excited about what the hospital might get this year and we've all been supporting the campaign. We're very, very grateful for the money received last year and I can assure everyone we'll spend the money well this year.
"The extraordinary total raised last year is a reflection of how the Progressive staff and customers really embrace this appeal," she said. "We are so thrilled that the Fresh Future committee selected Waikato Hospital again this year, it is a real example of a local business in our community supporting the children of our community."
Progressive Enterprises Managing Director, Peter Smith said his staff got right behind the appeal again.
"I am very proud of my team for their efforts in raising these funds for such an important cause."
Attached is an invitation for you and details of how Waikato Hospital intends using its money when we find out how much we're getting!
