Interference With Hospital Medication
Police Called to Investigate Interference With
Hospital Medication
The Canterbury District Health Board ( CDHB) has contacted Christchurch Police to investigate several incidents, where pain relief medication has been diluted or replaced with water on wards at Christchurch Hospital. At this stage, it is unclear how long this has been occurring.
Christchurch Hospital General Manager Mark Leggett said, “patient safety is our main concern and additional precautions have been put in place to monitor the use of pain relief medication and to ensure the correct strengths are administered to patients.”
CDHB is working closely with Christchurch Police to ensure the source of the problem is identified as quickly as possible and will not be commenting further at this stage.
