Puff, the Magic Air Balloon, Promotes Asthma Awareness at the Viaduct

The fact that 1 in 4 Kiwi kids has asthma will be promoted at a spectacular height in Auckland this evening, in fact up to six storeys high..

Puff, the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation’s hot air balloon, is being set up for a special appearance at the Viaduct from about 5pm and on until dusk and beyond (balloons will be near the corner of Quay and Lower Hobson Streets, by the Maritime Museum and Princes Wharf).

It’s expected Puff and perhaps one or two other hot air balloons will fire up their burners and put on a night glow for Auckland. It promises to be a very impressive sight; the first time hot air balloons have been set up in the Auckland CBD like this. In late March Puff and other hot air balloons provided delight to thousands on Wellington’s Oriental Beach.

Puff’s appearance is part of the Foundation’s annual Balloon Day awareness and fundraising campaign. There will be events this Saturday at participating Mitre 10 stores including all the MEGAs and in communities across the country, arranged by local asthma societies.

The Balloon Day campaign is being supported by actor Robyn Malcolm, MPs Rodney Hide, Darren Hughes and Sue Kedgley, the Wellington International Ukelele Orchestra and Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast among other high profile New Zealanders.
