Darren Hughes backs asthma awareness

Darren Hughes backs asthma awareness

Press Release: Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand

Otaki MP Darren Hughes (pictured) has come out strongly in support of World Asthma Day, which is this Tuesday, 6 May.

Mr Hughes (pictured) also urged people to get behind the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation’s annual asthma awareness and fundraising campaign, Balloon Day.

About one in four Kiwi kids has asthma and we have the second highest asthma rate in the world.

This coming Saturday, 10 May 2008, there will be fun activities at participating Mitre 10 stores around New Zealand, including all the MEGAs. Red balloons will be available for a donation.

Mr Hughes called Balloon Day a great campaign and he joins actors Robyn Malcolm, Ray Henwood and George Henare, MPs Sue Kedgley and Rodney Hide, the Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast and Asthma Ambassador Danyon Loader in endorsing the campaign.
