BCAC Delighted By Vaccine Funding

Published: Fri 2 May 2008 03:19 PM
Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition Media release, 02 May 2008 For immediate release
BCAC is delighted to hear that a cervical cancer vaccine has been funded for New Zealand women. This is an extremely positive thing. We're very much hoping for a similar positive outcome for Herceptin, so that our women get the funding for 12 months Herceptin available in 32 other countries.
As it stands, New Zealand women are faced with the awful dilemma of having to fundraise to pay for the 12 month length of treatment their doctors recommend, or go without.
We?re calling on the government to move quickly on this and bring relief to the hundreds of New Zealand women who need 52 weeks of Herceptin treatment.
