A series of one day conferences in May 26 –June 4 2008 in Australia and New Zealand with Michel Odent, James McKenna, Alison Barrett & Carol Bartle

James J McKenna PhD is Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Mother- Baby Behavioral Sleep Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana USA. He has been recognised internationally for his work on infant sleep with many awards, and is widely published in this field. James is the author of "Sleeping with your Baby".

Michel Odent MD introduced the concepts of birthing pools and homelike birthing rooms while practising in a hospital at Pithiviers in France. He went into home birth practice after a hospital career and is the founder of the Primal Health Research Centre. He has written 11 books published in 21 languages, including "Birth Reborn", "Primal Health", "The Farmer and the Obstetrician", "The Scientification of Love", "Birth and Breastfeeding" and "The Caesarean".

Alison Barrett BSc MD FRCS(C) FRANZCOG IBCLC was, until recently, Director of Maternity Services at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand She is a La Leche League leader, an IBCLC lactation consultant, and has served as a member of the NZ National Breastfeeding Advisory Committee and the La Leche League of NZ Board of Consultants. She has recently returned to her homeland, Canada, to set up a new mother-and-baby-friendly birthing unit, north of Toronto.

Carol Bartle RN RM IBCLC MHSc has worked in hospitals and the community for 36 years as a NICU practitioner and NICU community outreach nurse, well-child health nurse, midwife, family support worker and educator. She is a BFHI assessor and a member of the La Leche League NZ Board of Consultants. Carol presents the Breastfeeding Update and Ethics in Lactation Practice seminars for CAPERS. Carol contributed a chapter, "Dancing Birth: Choreography and Improvisation" to "The Art and Soul of Midwifery".
