Westpac Rescue Helicopter Transports Sick Diver
The Wellington Base Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to a 40yr old male Diver who was in trouble at Seal Rock, which is near Cape Palliser on the South Coast of Waiarapa. We responded at 3:30pm today.
With a Wellington Free Paramedic onboard the Helicopter landed near the patient where he was assessed by the Paramedic. On our arrival the patient had been placed in the recovery position by members of the public and was covered with towels to help him stay warm. With the help of the people who were at the scene he was carried the 500 hundred meters from the beach up to the helicopter.
He was transported to Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where he was been assessed for the Bends.
