Ecolab workers suspend strike for mediation
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing members at Ecolab in Hamilton have put their industrial action on hold in advance of mediation with the company tomorrow morning.
The workers began strike action last week over the multi-billion dollar US-owned company’s refusal to accept their claim to join the Metals industry agreement – one of the country’s largest multi employer collective agreements (MECA).
The Metals agreement covers more than a hundred general manufacturing workplaces and is due to be renegotiated in May this year.
The strike now involves fifteen chemical workers and is the first of its kind for the company’s New Zealand operations.
