New Website Goes Live

SF New Zealand

MEDIA RELEASE 10/03/08

Schizophrenia Fellowship New Zealand (SF New Zealand)

New Website Goes Live

As part of Schizophrenia Awareness Week celebrations (March 10-16) Schizophrenia Fellowship New Zealand (SF New Zealand) is launching a ‘new look’ website.

“Websites are a crucial communication tool in today’s mass media environment and SF New Zealand needs tools designed to effectively reach and inform our diverse stakeholders Ђ particularly families of mental health service users” said SF New Zealand CEO Florence Leota.

“One of the main barriers to getting help is the stigma of mental illness, and often a website is a confidential and easy way for people to access information that can take them to the next step of sourcing advice, help and support.

“SF New Zealand’s role of providing information, support, education and advocacy to families with a mental illness can only be effective if we achieve reach. This has been made easier with our website.

“The website is ‘fresh’ looking and informative, containing information on how families and service users can access support, as well as resources and books explaining a variety of mental illnesses. People can use the site to find information on the Mental Health Act, upcoming events, current research and links to other organizations that also provide support.

“SF New Zealand appreciates the need to adapt to an ever-changing environment that demands information be provided in real-time and as conveniently as possible. This also means updating your communication tools. We’re pleased with the new website and know that it will be an invaluable tool”, concluded Florence Leota.
