Teddy bear lovers given chance to Nurture their collection
If you go down to Smith and Caughey’s today you’re in for a big surprise. Teddy bear collectors will be thrilled to hear that limited edition and highly collectable Steiff Teddy Bears are to be auctioned at the Queen Street Smith and Caughey’s store in Auckland next month to raise funds for The Nurture Foundation.
12 exquisite handmade bears crafted in Germany from the finest mohair and alpaca wool will be offered for auction. Leading auction house Webb’s will preside over the auction with all proceeds benefitting Nurture’s work in supporting reproductive research.
Established by leading New Zealand doctors, researchers and supporters, Nurture raises funds for medical research aimed at helping more New Zealanders realise their dream of nurturing a child. Nurture supports research that will help predict, prevent and treat problems such as infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth and serious pregnancy complications.
Nurture spokesperson, Laura Carr, says these are issues that touch the lives of thousands of Kiwis every year. “The charity teddy bear auction is a great way for people to support Nurture, while being able to nurture a new addition to their own family with a collectable Steiff teddy bear.
“We are very grateful to Steiff for choosing Nurture as the beneficiary of the auction.
The teddy bears are absolutely gorgeous and we are pleased to be able to join with Steiff and Smith and Caughey’s to give people the opportunity to bid for one of these limited edition creations."
The Steiff bears will be on display at the Smith & Caughey’s Queen Street store from 28 February, with the auction taking place on 15 March at 11am.
