Hawke’s Bay Board urged to drop
governance review injunction
Hawke’s Bay District Health
Board member Peter Hausmann is calling on fellow board
members to withdraw their legal proceedings so the findings
of a review into governance issues at the board can be
released as soon as possible.
Mr Hausmann says like all
those taking part in the Ministry of Health review he is
constrained from commenting publicly on its contents.
But
he says he is extremely concerned some board members have
initiated legal action that threatens to prevent the final
review findings from being released.
He says the board
members involved should explain to the public of Hawke’s
Bay why the results of an eight month inquiry into board
dealings should be withheld.
He says board room politics and inaccurate media reports have masked the serious healthcare issues facing the people of Hawke’s Bay for far too long.
Mr Hausmann says he himself initiated the review
and he has always acted openly and with integrity during his
dealings on the board.
He says he has co-operated fully
with the review panel and looks forward to its findings
being released publicly.
Mr Hausmann says the Director-General of Health should release those findings as a matter of urgency so the people of Hawke’s Bay can see for themselves the issues at stake.
