Listen Up, Capital and Coast. Keep Your District Nurses!
District Nurses call on Capital and Coast District Health Board to listen to its staff and community and pull back from plans to foist privatisation upon the region’s community nursing service.
NZNO organiser Barbara Crozier says that CCDHB’s district nurses agree with the 6000 members of the Wellington and Kapiti community who signed a petition asking the DHB to retain its community nursing service.
The public have until Thursday 29 November to make submissions on the five options presented by the DHB. NZNO believes the only option that involves retaining community services within the DHB is deliberately negative and skewed to promote the DHB’s preferred option of privatisation.
NZNO has until Thursday 6 December to make its submission and is currently working with district nurses to develop a sixth option to present to the DHB. This option would involve retaining district nursing as a publicly owned service under the DHB.
“Only an outcome that sees district nurses retained as employees of the DHB is acceptable to our members,” says Barbara Crozier.
