The Warehouse supports a safe fireworks season
Fireworks can be part of a fun, family evening as a Guy Fawkes celebration. The Warehouse encourages people to be safe
and responsible this Fireworks season.
Although most people know to never use a lighter to read the instructions, and never hold a lit firework in their hand,
there are other things to remember as well.
“One of the main things to remember is to never try to relight a dud firework,” says Cynthia Church, spokesperson for
The Warehouse. “A firework may take up to a minute to go off, or continue to smoulder after you think it won’t light.
Give it at least two minutes, and then place it in a bucket of water just in case.”

- Keep all children well away from where the fireworks are being lit
- Light your fireworks in wide open areas away from things that can catch light
- Keep a bucket of water or a hose handy before you need it
- Leave dud fireworks – trying to relight them is unsafe
- Read and follow the instructions on fireworks before trying to light them
- Never hold a firework in your hand
- Keep your pets inside when you let off fireworks
- Light fireworks on a stable surface, such as concrete, make sure they can’t fall over
- Never use a lighter to read the instructions on the firework – use a torch
- Treat burns with 20 minutes under cold running water
- Let’s ensure everyone keeps safe and has fun this season.
