Mobile Dental Clinic Stolen From Netherton
One of Waikato District Health Board's six mobile dental clinics was taken from Netherton School near Paeroa sometime over the weekend.
A truck would have been needed to tow the 9m long by 2m wide clinic from the school, said dental therapist Meirene Royal today.
Paeroa Police have been informed and are appealing for any information. The clinic, valued at more than $320,000, was seen on site late Saturday afternoon but was gone by Sunday morning.
It set up at Netherton School on October 16 and was due to be towed away tomorrow (Tuesday October 30) for another rural school in the Coromandel after treating more than 100 Netherton school children.
Of concern to police and the Waikato DHB are the chemicals stored inside the clinic and more than 200 patient records as well as personal items belonging to the two therapists and an assistant.
It is one of three towable clinics operated by Waikato DHB and was commissioned in 1999. The six clinics have reduced reliance on school clinic facilities especially those identified as having significant health and safety concerns. The mobiles also allow additional schools in remote rural location and several urban schools to be provided with an on-site service. The six mobiles currently visit 84 school sites.
