CDHB’s Quality And Innovation Awards
Fifteen projects will vie for the top prize at this year’s CDHB Quality and Innovation Awards, which will be held at the Canterbury Horticultural Centre this Wednesday, 19 September.
Winners from three award categories – community based services, hospital and specialist services and systems improvement – will be announced at the ceremony, along with the supreme award.
The projects range from a new sexual health service for young street sex workers to an information DVD for patients and their families about what to expect in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit. Other entries include a new service for people with mild to moderate mental illness in rural areas and an initiative to improve the treatment of children who are admitted to Christchurch Hospital with gastroenteritis and dehydration.
CDHB Corporate Quality and Risk Manager Jan Nicholson says entries in the awards, which are in their fifth year, have again been of a high standard.
“It’s pleasing to see the diversity of projects entered this year. These awards are a good opportunity for the CDHB to recognise staff who are going the extra mile to look at innovative ways to do things. Ultimately these projects help us to improve the patient experience.”
