North Shore Hospice Vintners’ Brunch a Simmering Success
Cooking up funds for the North Shore Hospice was hot on the menu last Sunday (29 July 2007) at the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre as twelve of Auckland's top restaurants and wineries came together for the eleventh annual Vintners’ Brunch.
The Brunch, sponsored by Bayleys North Shore, saw over $100,000 raised for the North Shore Hospice to help with the Hospice’s ongoing quest to ensure terminally ill patients, and their families, have the best possible quality of life.
Rosemary Such, event manager for North Shore Hospice, says yesterday’s Vintners’ Brunch was “absolutely fantastic” and one of the highlights on the Hospice’s annual fundraising calendar.
“This year’s Vintners’ Brunch sold out a record two months before the event and the guests attending were wonderful and incredibly supportive of the event.
“The top auction prize was a painting by Tim Wilson that went for $8,200. Other auction items included a Vintners’ Brunch Table 2008, Magnum of Te Motu and a Corporate Box at Eden Park.
“I would like to thank Bayleys North Shore, SKYCITY, and all the wineries and restaurants involved for their hard-work and dedication to raising funds for North Shore Hospice,” says Ms Such.
SKYCITY Community Relations and Sponsorship Manager, Kylie Archer, says SKYCITY was delighted to support the eleventh annual Vintners’ Brunch.
“The event has become so popular that the Brunch needed to move to a bigger venue to accommodate. SKYCITY Auckland was thrilled to step up and sponsor an event that raises much needed funds for an amazing organisation,” says Ms Archer.
Food and wine commentator Vic Williams hosted the event and the following restaurants and wineries participated:
Restaurants – Harbourside, Kapiti, Number 5, Opium, Orbit SKYCITY, Pontoon, Prego, Sugar Loaf, The Great Catering Company, The Hunting Lodge, The Shed and Toto.
Wineries – Babich, Coopers Creek, Goldwater Estate, Kumeu River, Lincoln, Matua Valley, New Zealand Wine Society, Selaks Wines, Taylor’s Port, Te Motu, Villa Maria and Wither Hills.
The 2007 Vintners’ Brunch winning restaurant and wine match was Toto and Selaks Wines.
