Is There A Teenager In Your House?
This from Toi Te Ora - Public Health, Health Promoter Vicky Apisai, who is hosting "Teenager in the House?". It's a free information evening where parents and caregivers can hear from local parenting service providers who will be able to help with advice and support on parenting issues Wednesday 4 July, at 6.30pm, REAP House, 21 Pyne Street, Whakatane.
"The "Teenager in the House" parent evening was developed following local parents identifying the need for free access to friendly and up-to-date information on specific teenage issues" says Vicky Apisai. "We're not just talking about parents with young people at risk, it seems most adults are balancing work, getting ahead and raising other children - so it's often a juggling act at the best of times."
Toi Te Ora - Public Health has been working collaboratively with local parenting service providers, and Eastbay REAP, to organise an information evening for parents of teenagers. The evening will enable parents to engage in conversations with other parents, and guests from Voyagers, REAP and other family service and support groups.
"Parents will leave with a new outlook and better understanding of what support is out there" says Vicky. "We hope they will no longer feel like they are on their own - or on a different planet to their teenagers!"
"It can be a roller coaster that never stops for parents and caregivers living with teenagers."
