Make A Difference To The Lives Of The Hearing Impaired In 2007
Researchers, hearing care professionals and organisations now have the chance to access funding for projects that will help the lives of those with hearing impairment.
The Oticon Foundation in New Zealand is seeking interest from individuals and groups for funding for projects and research that isn’t available through other sources.
Applications for Oticon Foundation grants are now open and close on 31 March 2007.
“The Oticon Foundation funding encourages and supports scientific research or projects that lead to the improvement or mitigation of hearing impairment,” says Karen Pullar, Secretary to the Oticon Foundation Trustees.
“New technology, advances in treatment, therapy and medicine mean almost everyone with a hearing impairment today can have a better quality of life. But with these advances come challenges to keep making progress and to assess and review best practice and new practice.
“The Foundation urges people to consider whether their work or involvement with the hearing impaired could benefit from funding to help improve what and how they do.
“Previously projects we have supported include research projects on the effectiveness of technology, rehabilitation and therapy methods and securing international expertise to lift the professional knowledge and skills of those working with people with hearing impairment,” says Ms Pullar
The Oticon Foundation in New Zealand was established in October 1976. It is a charitable trust of Oticon New Zealand Limited and aims to improve the lives of the hearing impaired in New Zealand through communication and knowledge. It is committed to finding better solutions to hearing loss and strives to increase public awareness and understanding of hearing impairment.
More information is available from www.oticon.org.nz. Applications for 2007 Oticon Foundation grants must be in by 31 March 2007. Successful grant recipients will be notified by 30 June 2007.
