Hyundai Supports CanTeen

Media Release 13 December 06

Hyundai Supports CanTeen

CanTeen NZ is pleased to announce an important new sponsorship relationship with Hyundai.

This will see the fast growing vehicle brand supply five Hyundai Tucson SUV’s to CanTeen, a national peer support network for young people living with cancer.

This sponsorship is part of Hyundai’s extensive support of the community and sport in New Zealand.

“Our members and staff are thrilled to have the Hyundai Tucson SUV’s. These vehicles reflect and support CanTeen’s go for it attitude,” says Roger Hill, CanTeen National Manager.

The Tucson’s will be distributed to four CanTeen centres throughout the country. The use of the cars will allow greater efficiency for CanTeen by providing transport for members.

“In the past we have relied on our staff to use their own vehicles transporting and visiting our members. This resulted in wear and tear and increased usage which you can’t fully compensate them for,” says Roger Hill.

Thanks to Hyundai CanTeen will now be able to transport its members to their national camps and regional activities including ski trips, movie nights, sporting events and art workshops.

The visibility of the cars out on the roads will not only provide transport for CanTeen staff and members, they will also increase public awareness of CanTeen and what it offers to young people living with cancer.

“CanTeen is a cause close to the heart of our nation. Hyundai is delighted to assist the great work they do for young people in our community,” comments the Managing Director of Hyundai Automotive NZ, Philip Eustace.

CanTeen was established to ensure that no young person in New Zealand living with cancer should ever have to feel alone.

“CanTeen’s foundation was built upon the fundamental belief that young people – through meeting, talking, sharing their experiences – would be better able to cope with the uncertainties of living with cancer,” says Kylie Gallager, Marketing Manager CanTeen.

CanTeen’s mission is to support, develop and empower young people living with cancer through a national support network and high quality recreational and educational programs.
