ACC Fact Sheets - A big improvement
Access Support Services congratulates ACC for the improvement in the information it provides to claimants. We think credit for this goes to ACC's new CEO, Dr Jan White, who to over in 2005.
A significant improvement is the revised fact sheet titled "Working Together", which ACC provides to claimants when it issues a decision. It now informs claimants:
* to ensure they lodge the review application within the 3 months time-limit
* they are welcome to engage a advocate or solicitor to represent them
* ACC can often assist with the cost of representation
* the Citizens Advice Bureau can provide the claimant with a list of available advocates
Previous fact sheet fell well short of the mark of being effective and informative and claimants did not understand their review rights. This new fact sheet will go a long way to ensuring claimants can exercise their rights.
We encourage any claimant unhappy with a decision by ACC to approach the CAB for a list of reputable and experienced advocates.
